Daisy Ridley Says She Had “Reservations” About The Script For Star Wars: The Last Jedi

It looks like Mark Hamill wasn't the only one who was a bit hesitant about Rian Johnson's decisions after reading Star Wars: The Last Jedi's script.

Star Wars sequel trilogy star Daisy Ridley recently spoke in a British Academy of Film and Television Arts Question and Answer session for The Force Awakens sequel, and during the discussion, the actress admitted that she had some reservations about Johnson's script – but not for reasons that fans might think of.

Apparently, the actress was a bit worried because John Boyega's Finn was sent on a mission far away from her character, Rey.

"Well I, like Mark [Hamill], had some reservations about the script. I thought, 'Where is John [Boyega]? He's away from me, and I don't want to be away from him.'"

Ridley's answer resulted in quite a number of laughs from the audience. But it wasn't a joke. According to the actress, Boyega helped her through the difficulties of filming.

"Getting into something like this is pretty overwhelming, and John was my guy the whole way through filming and press stuff [on The Force Awakens], and it was scarry. It was really scary thinking about the next chapter with us apart. And I expressed that to Rian."

"Luckily we had a couple weeks to rehearse and we talked everything through. And, obviously, it's an ongoing conversation as we went. But I found it quite difficult, I remember saying to Rian I felt much more neurotic this time."

It was hard for Ridley to deal with the pressure that came along with being a Star Wars actress the first time she starred in The Force Awakens, and it seems like she still experienced a lot of pressure in The Last Jedi.

"There were times where I thought, I don't think I've done the right thing, but Rian, if you're happy, I'm happy. Because I think it's that thing of being pushed and going somewhere where you can't quite figure it out, and [Rey's] figuring it out at the same time. But you do sort of think, I don't know if I'm doing this justice."

Despite her worries, Ridley did an excellent job of playing Rey in Lucasfilm's latest sequel trilogy installment, depicting a lost hero searching for her place in the midst of everything going on in the franchise.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is currently screening in cinemas.
