Chris McKay: The Reason Why The Nightwing Movie Was Absent At Comic-Con

SDCC 2017 had DC announcing their slate of upcoming movies including Aquaman and Wonder Woman 2, but there were also a lot of films in the works that didn't see any announcement—one of them is Chris McKay's Nightwing project.

A fan had asked McKay on Twitter on why his film was absent from SDCC, and as it turns out, McKay just wants to take his time so he can properly deliver the movie.

Here's the tweet:

McKay was actually very successful with the release of The Lego Batman Movie, and it looks like he has a good understanding of the lore. With his seasoned career in animation, it looks like Nightwing will be McKay's first foray into live-action movies.

Getting the script right has been the common reason for delays in DCEU films. For one, Ben Affleck's The Batman solo movie couldn't move forward till Affleck was pleased with the script. The situation got so bad that Affleck eventually quit the directing job with new director Matt Reeves coming up with his own story. Hopefully pressure isn't too high on McKay to rush the script for his project.

As of now, Nightwing is still in early stages of pre-production, and we have very little information on story, cast, or release date.

You can catch, Batman, however, in Justice League which comes out Nov. 17.
