Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed but most fans are pretty understanding about the news, even though it's still a bit disappointing. Don't get me wrong, we're more than willing to let developers work on their game more so that it won't become a rushed mess like Assassin's Creed: Unity (which is a good game now) and WWE 2K20 (still isn't a good game).
Due to the game's delay, many of us assumed that CD Projekt Red would want to bring this game to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. After all, they're coming out in the holiday season, which is only a few months after the next supposed release date of the game, on September 10. However, during a teleconference call covered by GameSpot, the developers stated that there are currently no plans to bring this game to the next-gen.
"As of right now, Cyberpunk is heading for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC. Nothing has changed in regard to those plans. We are going with the same plans that we set," CD Projekt Red joint CEO Adam Kiciński reiterated. "[Cyberpunk 2077] was always designed for [PS4 and Xbox One]. We are thinking about the next generation, but for now, we are focused on the current generation. That plan is still valid."
This is actually quite different from a previous statement they made, where CD Projekt Red said they would take a chance to launch this on a new gaming system. However, since the game has already been developed long enough for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia, it looks like the developers are committed to bringing this game to those consoles.
Plus, the PS5 and Xbox Series X will supposedly be backward-compatible with older games so we'll probably be able to play Cyberpunk 2077 on these consoles.
Cyberpunk 2077 comes out on September 10.
