Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Won't Arrive Until After 2021

Fans were relieved and disappointed when CD Projekt Red announced that Cyberpunk 2077 would be delayed from April to September. While there were fans who were sad that the game won't be coming out sooner, others are happy since it lets them save money for the other big games in April. Those other big games are Resident Evil 3 Remake (April 3) and Final Fantasy VII Remake (April 10).

Unsurprisingly, the Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer will also be coming at a later date. CD Projekt Red didn't give a clear release date during an investor's call covered by Polygon. The game's multiplayer isn't going to be ready anytime soon but the beloved company stated that it wouldn't be ready by 2021, which is pretty shocking.

Is it coming out in 2077? Probably not but here's what they had to say:

"Given the expected release of Cyberpunk 2077 in September, and frankly speaking of the series of events we expect to occur after that date, 2021 appears unlikely as a release date for the Cyberpunk multiplayer."

While the news might disappoint some, most of us would rather wait for the main Cyberpunk 2077 game on current-gen gaming systems first. It's going to be one hell of a sendoff for the eight-generation of video game systems and if the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will actually be backward-compatible, then fans will be playing this game for years to come.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia on September 17.
