Bryan Singer Teases Female Wolverine Appearance in X-Force Film

The X-Men franchise is far from over after X-Men: Apocalypse. There are still a couple of spinoffs after the film, and one that's currently been in constant attention is X-Force. The movie was first announced in 2013 but only recently gained traction due to Deadpool's massive success and a potential crossover between the X-team and the Merc with a Mouth.

While nothing is official yet about the X-Force movie, longtime X-Men director Bryan Singer has spoken up about the potential appearance of female wolverine X-23 in the movie.

In an interview with Fandango, Singer said he's currently in talks with 20th Century Fox about the X-Force movie and X-23 was brought up at one point.

The filmmaker said:

I have discussed that with the studio. I actually initially pitched the X-Force and the female [Wolverine]. … Simon [Kinberg] is in the earliest script stage, so that's kind of where that stands, and we'll see how it evolves.

Late last month, X-23 had also been rumored as appearing in Wolverine 3. It definitely looks like the studio is considering the character joining the X-Men fold once and for all. It remains to be seen whether she'll actually be joining the team, but if she is, her inclusion in the X-Men universe would be the perfect way to introduce a new clawed mutant without actually replacing Hugh Jackman. Singer and Kinberg did say that Hugh Jackman is irreplaceable as Wolverine, so they could have thought of placing X-23 once Jackman is gone.

It's also worth noting that when Singer teased Wolverine's appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse back in March, the mutant did appear in the movie's trailer the following month. I have a feeling this tease would end up being official information.

There's no information yet about the production for the X-Force movie. Meanwhile, the R-rated Wolverine 3 will hit theaters on March 3, 2017.
