Black Panther: Alternate Costume Design had T'Chaka Donning the Classic Cape from the Comics

We got to see a variation of T'Challa's suits in Black Panther, but with the character's storied past in the comics, there were definitely some nods made to previous iterations of the Black Panther. As it turns out, young T'Chaka almost donned the classic suit with the gold necklace and cape.

Check out the concept art shared by MCU artists Andy Park:

The final suit we got was more of a combo between the original Black Panther suit and some traditional robes, but I would have loved to see the cape make it to the big screen. It even comes complete with the fabulous collar a la Doctor Strange.

Since the suit is also designed to be an older version of the costume, you'll notice that it has more armor plating as compared to T'Challa's modernized outfit; it also comes with some classic superhero pouches for storing all the Panther-gadgets. I bet it still doesn't stop someone from freezing though. Even T'Challa's costume couldn't do that.

Though they abandoned this look for the film, I'm certain they would consider bringing it in for the sequel. It can even come with that shield tech that Wakabi's clan uses. If they can choose to save Grey Hulk for another movie, they'll probably do the same with this amazing version of Black Panther.

Black Panther is currently out in theaters.
