Aquaman to Reel in These Scary Underwater Villains

James Wan may be gathering quite the legion of creepy underwater foes for Aquaman to face off against.

A new report from Superhero News suggests that the director is gearing up for some creepy henchmen. These minor characters may be in the form of humanoid being with big heads and eyes and sharp teeth. They will also have fins, to mark their underwater qualities.

The description calls to mind The Trench, which were a big threat to Atlantis when they were introduced in the New 52. What's amazing about this particular set of villains is that they will use practical effects onset—all the creepier-looking, I guess.

One other set of villains may be the Deep Six, the clue pointing more to the number of beings and the fact that they will have individual personalities.

These are speculations for now, but considering Wan's specialization in horror, I wouldn't doubt that the Trench creatures would look their most terrifying, especially with a non-CGI approach.

Aquaman will be out on Dec. 21, 2018. It will star Jason Momoa as the King of Atlantis, as well as Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Temuera Morrison, and Dolph Lundgren.
