Let's not kid ourselves, a lot of us, especially the most diehard of Star Wars fans have always dreamed of owning a lightsaber that actually works but it has always seemed a little too impossible to create a real-life saber so most of us just resort to getting toys or replicas which I guess is the next best thing. Times have changed, however, and one massive Star Wars geek has created a plasma-based lightsaber and it's pretty darn incredible.

YouTube user the Hacksmith, who is known for his geek projects has unveiled the world's first retractable plasma-based lightsaber. His lightsaber is powered by a portable backpack that is connected to the weapon's hilt and it actually shoots a beam of flame that mimics that of the film's iconic weapon. How is that even possible, you ask? The hilt produces a stream of propane gas mixed with oxygen and which burns at 2204C, meaning that it could easily cut through even a thick piece of metal. Now, that's hella impressive! Check it out here:

The last time we saw the iconic piece of weaponry in live-action form was in 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and it wasn't just any lightsaber, it was Rey's newly crafted yellow saber which made a brief appearance during the film's final sequence and still remains a huge mystery to a lot of fans. Now, while we all know that Daisy Ridley's days as a Jedi could be behind her, it will still be great to see her continue her exploits as Rey post-Skywalker saga. She could even give us a backstory of how her new lightsaber was made. I mean, let's not close our doors as anything can happen in the Star Wars franchise.
