Before Dune, Catch Honest Trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049

While everyone is getting excited for the release of Denis Villeneuve's Dune later in the year, Screen Junkies has decided to finally release their Honest Trailer take on Villeneuve's last big sci-fi movie, Blade Runner 2049.

From the visionary director behind that movie where Amy Adams talks to tentacles comes a critically acclaimed sequel that dares to ask provocative questions like what is a soul, what is the nature of love, and—hey, where’s everybody going? Hello, we got Gosling here! You guys like Gosling, right?

Though the movie was critically acclaimed, you can’t help but think that the Honest Trailer does have a point that the movie kind of squanders too long when it comes to the runtime. There’s a lot of slow delivery in the film, and though the visuals are dazzling, you really do have to allot a huge chunk of your time if you want to watch Blade Runner 2049 straight.

If anything, it was a faithful sequel to the original and builds on a lot of great themes. Plus, you have a lot of great new characters like Gosling’s K and Ana de Armas’ Joi. Even Jared Leto wasn’t so bad in this film.

For now, everyone is waiting on the release of Dune and hoping it will be a commercial success this time. While I’m sure Villeneuve is the draw for sci-fi fans, I’m thinking that the stars of Dune are going to be what everyone else is coming for. You can’t go wrong with the likes of Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa, Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet, and Josh Brolin,

Catch Dune in theaters Dec. 18.
