Aquaman doesn't hold any limit whether dwelling on the surface or diving underwater. As a half-human, half-Atlantean King, the blood running in his veins made him pretty much invincible. However, does this 'invincibility' also include granting Aquaman to be bulletproof, too?

Aquaman Is Bulletproof in the First Film

There was a scene in Aquaman when he was shot by his mortal enemy, the Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen) several times. However, despite so, Aquaman still managed to survive.

Not to mention, he was also left unscathed when the Black Manta ended up hitting him with a sword. It's one thing to have strong enough armor to protect any hero from danger, but is Aquaman's body actually bulletproof?

In the first Aquaman film, when the Atlantean hero is about to defeat Black Manta, the latter's dad, Jesse Kane (Michael Beach), arrives to help his son. He shot Aquaman with a rocket launcher, convinced that they had already killed Aquaman.

However, after a couple of minutes, Aquaman stood up unharmed and before Kane could shoot him again, the hero pinned him on the wall, rendering him helpless in place.

According to the portrayal of Jason Momoa's Aquaman, he is very much bulletproof in the film, which is in line with his comic book counterpart.

Several netizens shared some copies of the comics indicating that Aquaman is indeed bulletproof. Here is how and why Aquaman is bulletproof:

Atlantean bodies are designed to adapt to the crushing pressures and cold of the deep ocean where they live.

They evolved to cope with the immense pressures at the deepest parts of the ocean which enhanced their strength and physical attributes further. Their skin is much more durable and tougher than an average human's.

Aquaman's skin is so thick that the force and pressure created by bullets cannot penetrate it. A solid .38 bullet produces around 3,000 psi of pressure momentarily and is enough to penetrate regular human skin, but not Aquaman.

He lives and moves in the deepest part of the oceans where the pressure produced by the water is enormous and several times larger than what is produced by a bullet.

Aquaman has to live with over 15,000 psi which is bigger than the pressure of a bullet. This makes Atlanteans tough and invulnerable to human weapons, including bullets. It would take a very special round to give Aquaman lasting damage.

Since DC Studios' co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are building the new DC Universe from scratch, this begs the question of whether Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will retain some of what the first film introduced to us or not.

Aquaman made his on-screen debut in the Justice League movie before getting his own solo film afterward.

You'll be glad to know that the events of what happened in the JL film didn't matter, since the Aquaman film retconned a couple of things, especially with how he met Mera.

With Black Manta returning to avenge his father, claiming the black trident will probably not be as easy as dodging a couple of bullets for the new Atlantis King. The question is, will Aquaman survive the mythical harpoon this time?
