The DC Extended Universe's Wonder Woman was a huge success when it released this year. Not only did Gal Gadot's first feature film as Diana Prince make a mark at the global office, the movie more importantly received a wave of largely positive reviews from fans and critics.

With Wonder Woman's success at its heels, Warner Bros. has started gathering its key players for Wonder Woman 2 and according to The Hollywood Reporter the studio has already set a premiere date for the sequel to the dramatic female-led superhero film.

Scheduled to premiere two years from now on Friday, December 13, 2019, Wonder Woman 2 will see Gadot returning as the DCEU's charismatic demi-goddess with Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins expected to officially sign on the project after finalizing matters with Warner Bros.

This new report comes a week after the studios announced that it had a couple of other 2020 premiere dates set for two untitled DC films. Back then, the main guess was that the 2020 dates had been reserved for Matt Reeve's The Batman and Wonder Woman 2, but with Gadot's sequel set for 2019, it seems like DC fans are in for a new surprise. Could the studio be planning to keep these dates for Joss Whedon's Batgirl, or could they be planning to screen Chris McKay's Nightwing? Let's wait and see.

While 2019 is a long way off for Wonder Woman fans, Gadot is set to reprise her role as the DCEU superheroine in Justice League which premieres on November 17, 2017.
