Tom Holland Landed Spider-Man Role Thanks To Chris Hemsworth

Out of all the different cinematic versions of Spider-Man in Hollywood history, Tom Holland's take on Marvel's web-slinging hero has been the most well-received with many considering his debut in Captain America: Civil War as one of the highlights of the film. Young and witty, Holland's version of Spidey is the most comicbook accurate so far.

Now, with fans waiting on the edge of their seats for the British actor to zip up and return to the big screen as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Holland reveals how Marvel star Chris Hemsworth had actually helped him land the role as Spidey.

Speaking in an interview with Yahoo! Movies, the Spider-Man star recalled how he went straight ahead and asked Hemsworth to put in a good word about him to the Marvel Studios execs. Though the Asgardian god of thunder did prank Holland by saying that he'd say horrible things about him, Hemsworth actually did talk to the higher ups about the enterprising star.

"He did actually, he did. I sent him an email while auditioning saying sort of like, ‘Hey Chris. So, I'm auditioning for Spider-Man. Can you let them know that I'm amazing or something?' And he replied like, ‘Hey mate. I'll let them know you never learn your lines and you are late all the time and you're terrible at your job.'"

Though the two have yet to appear in a Marvel movie together with Thor missing all the action in Civil War, Holland and Hemsworth already did work together in the 2015 adventure-drama In The Heart of the Sea, a movie based on the sinking of the whaling ship named Essex which inspired Herman Melville's Moby-Dick. Knowing their background together, it'll definitely be exciting to see the two bantering together in Marvel's highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War.

Spider-Man: Homecoming comes swinging into cinemas on July 7, 2017 while Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018.
