Werner Herzog Reveals His Role In Star Wars The Mandalorian

While there hasn't been that much Star Wars news the past few weeks, director Werner Herzog has just decided to stir up a little trouble by letting slip a few details about his secret role in Lucasfilm's highly-anticipated live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian.

Speaking in an interview with Indie Wire in order to promote his recent documentary, Meeting Gorbachev, the German director was asked about his recent acting roles. For those who aren't that familiar with Herzog as an actor, the filmmaker has played a number of roles in shows like Parks and Recreation as well as Adult Swim's brassy animated series, Rick and Morty.

It was then that Herzog decided to give up his role in The Mandalorian.

"Now this is not a secret anymore, a small part, real small part, in "The Mandalorian", the Star Wars sequel or whatever you call it. I like to do it because I know I'm good on screen, but only if I have to play a real villain," the director told the publication.

That means Herzog will be going against Game of Thrones actor Pedro Pascal, The Mandalorian's lead star. Right now there are very little details about the series, however, things are going to change very soon. The Disney+ live-action series is getting its own panel at Star Wars Celebration 2019 next month, and many fans expect a lot of new details to be revealed during the convention. Maybe we'll even get a brand new teaser trailer for the show.

The Mandalorian is set for release sometime in 2019.
