Venom Director Talks About Spider-Man Appearing In The Film’s Sequel

Disney and Sony's new deal might keep Tom Holland in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a few more years, but that doesn't mean that the British actor's Spider-Man can't make a few appearances in Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters.

Sure, Sony might not have made any concrete announcements regarding Peter Parker's involvement in the SUMC, however, it's clear that there's room for opportunities for appearances in the franchise. Venom director Reuben Fleischer just recently addressed the potential of Spider-Man going up against Venom (Tom Hardy) in the film's sequel.

Speaking in an interview with Fandom to talk about the premiere of his upcoming film, Zombieland: Double Tap, Fleischer revealed how exciting it would be to see Tom Holland take on Tom Hardy's Venom in Venom 2.

According to the filmmaker, the confrontation between Spider-Man and Venom is going to be even more exciting because Venom's tweaked the symbiote's origin to give it a bit of independence from Spidey.

"That's where it's all going to lead. And that's the exciting thing, because we changed the origin of Venom … in the comics, he evolved from Spider-Man but because of the Marvel-Sony thing we weren't able to that," Fleischer told the entertainment news outlet, "And so the thing I think it's building towards, and will be exciting to see, is when they actually do confront each other."

We're not quite sure how Spider-Man is going to appear in Venom 2, neither are we certain when he's going to appear in the sequel, however, we can't help but be excited for the face-off between Spidey and Venom.
