Universal Plans to Continue Jurassic World Franchise After Dominion

It looks like the third Jurassic World movie isn't going to be the end of the Jurassic Park franchise.

Speaking in an interview with Collider to discuss the upcoming Epix music documentary Laurel Canyon, Jurassic World producer Frank Marshall opened up about Universal Pictures' plans for everyone's favorite dinosaur film franchise.

While most Jurassic Park fans expected the Jurassic World trilogy to end with Jurassic World 3, it seems like the film is going to be the start of another chapter in Universal Picture's dinosaur story.

"It's the start of a new era," Marshall told the entertainment news outlet after he was being asked whether Jurassic World 3 would be an endpoint for the Jurassic Park film franchise.

"The dinosaurs are now on the mainland amongst us, and they will be for quite some time, I hope," the producer told Collider, seemingly pointing to future films where this would be the "new normal" for those living in the universe of Jurassic Park.

While this comes as a pleasant surprise to those who've fallen in love with the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies, fans shouldn't be entirely shocked over Universal's decision to continue the franchise. Sure, Jurassic World and its sequel may not have been as critically-lauded as one would hope the films to be, however, the studio has made almost $3 billion on the first two installments in the Jurassic World trilogy.

The only question now is whether the follow-ups to Jurassic World: Dominion might include Chris Pratt (Owen Grady) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire). Let's wait and see.

Jurassic World 3 is set to premiere on June 11, 2021.
