The Suicide Squad’s James Gunn Wants to Have a Harley Quinn and Groot Team-Up Movie

Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) just made its premiere last week, and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is out and about to wreak havoc on Gotham City after her break up with the Joker. Now that DC's girl gang comic book movie is making the rounds in cinemas, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad director James Gunn pitches his own Harley team-up movie, this time with the most adorable member of the Guardians of the Galaxy – Groot.

Taking to Twitter, Gunn decided to reveal his dream team-up movie with Harley and Groot, saying that he's discussed the idea with Margot Robbie herself. The filmmaker thinks that Harleen Frances Quinzel and Groot would have fantastic adventures with each other throughout the galaxy – though the director does find it difficult to make the team come true with his tight schedule for The Suicide Squad holding him down.

Check out Gunn's tweet down here:

"I've discussed this extensively with @MargotRobbie and I think Harley and Groot would have fabulous adventures together. And there are other great combos I'd bring up... if we at #TheSuicideSquad weren't keeping things under wraps..." the director wrote in his post addressing a fan wondering which The Suicide Squad character he'd want to meet with a member from the Guardians of the Galaxy.

It's an interesting team-up, to say the least. We can only wonder what kind of shenanigans Harley would get into if she had Groot with her.

Unfortunately, the team-up seems highly unlikely because of the DC and Marvel divide. Perhaps if Marvel and DC were to agree on a crossover movie, then the idea might work out. But then again, that's still pretty highly unlikely.

Birds of Prey is currently streaming in cinemas.
