Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Reveals Keri Russell’s Scoundrel Character

Lucasfilm announced its cast for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker last year, and August Rush and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes star Keri Rusell was among the fresh new faces named for the sequel trilogy's final film.

Now, thanks to Variety, we finally have our first look at Russell's new character in Star Wars: Episode IX. According to the publication, the Mission: Impossible II star is playing Zorri Bliss. Though little was revealed about the character, we know that Bliss belongs to the scoundrel/smuggler/bounty hunter class in Star Wars' galaxy far, far away.

Take a look at Russel's masked Zorri Bliss in the image down here:

Russell's character doesn't look like a Mandalorian at all, but given her helmet and the weapons she has at her side, one can tell that Zorri Bliss is most likely to turn out to be a bounty hunter. Or not. We'll have to wait for more details from Lucasfilm. Like the studio, Russell has said very little about her character – though she has spoken about what it was like to reunite with director J.J. Abrams. After all, it was Abrams who helped launch the actress' career, casting Russell in the titular role of the college drama, Felicity.

"It is just so much more fun to work with someone that you like so much," Russell said. "I mean, we see each other and then we talk nonstop and fill in all the details of the past years, and you know, it's just nice when you have that kind of fun and history with someone. It makes it all that much more enjoyable. When J.J. calls so unexpectedly, cool things happen."

We can't wait to hear more about Zorri Bliss from Lucasfilm.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
