Star Wars: The Mandalorian Star Reportedly in Talks for Marvel’s Professor X Role

Marvel may have yet to introduce the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, the rumor mill has been busy chugging out all kind of reports about Fox's mutant superheroes and their integration into the Marvel film franchise.

One of the most recent reports seems to suggest a particularly interesting casting choice – according to a report by Fortress of Solitude, word on the street has it that Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito is currently in talks to play Charles Xavier for the MCU.

While we advise fans to take the report with a grain of salt as with all rumors circulating online, however, we wouldn't be surprised if ever Marvel decided to cast Esposito for the role. Now that the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool are all headed to the MCU, Marvel would want to recast all of Fox's mutant heroes before integrating them into the franchise.

Esposito would be a great choice for Professor X – not only does the actor exude the same level of wisdom and competence as Charles Xavier, he also has had experience working on major projects like Jon Favreau's hit Star Wars series, The Mandalorian.

Interestingly enough, this isn't the first time that Esposito has been linked with the X-Men. Back in 2019, X-Men: First Class writer Zack Stenz suggested Esposito for another major X-Men role – this time as Magneto.

Either way, we know that Marvel would be remiss to not consider Esposito for a role in the MCU.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian is available for streaming on Disney+.
