Star Wars Reveals The Sith’s Connection in the High Republic

It may be hard to imagine the Sith taking a backseat in the Star Wars universe, but in Star Wars: The High Republic, Lucasfilm hopes to explore a time in the galaxy far, far away where the Jedi organization is at its height of power. Instead of the Sith, the upcoming multimedia project will focus on the Nihil, a group of anarchistic marauders.

This doesn't mean that the Sith won't make any mentions and appearances in the High Republic though. Alexander Freed is releasing an upcoming novel called Star Wars: Shadow Fall as part of Lucasfilm's new publication initiative, and the book seemingly offers a connection to the Sith.

In the book, fans get to learn how the New Republic and the Imperial Remnants continue to battle in an unusual planet orbiting a black hole that resembles a burning eye. This planet is Troithe, a once prosperous world located in the Middle Rim.

Screen Rant offers an excerpt from Shadowfall, giving fans the backstory behind Troithe.

"As Coruscant's production had waxed, Troithe's waned due to factors both unavoidable (the exhaustion of precious mineral resources on the broken continent; the Cerberon system's decreasing accessibility in a Republic expanding into the Colonies and the Inner Rim; the gradual decay of Troithe's planetary orbit as it spiraled toward the black hole) and tragically preventable (a short-lived civil war between the mixed-species underclass and the majority human population – a conflict manipulated in part by an ambitious aristo-mercantile family seeking to profit.)"

This isn't the only connection to the Sith that the book offers. Shadowfall has a New Republic pilot stumbling upon a Sith stronghold by accident. Hidden in the asteroid belt of the strange burning eye black hole, the stronghold resembles the fort Vader kept on Mustafar.

Does this mean that the Sith have a bigger stake to play in the High Republic? Seems likely. Let's wait and see.

The Skywalker saga is available for streaming on Disney+.
