Star Wars Actor John Boyega Doesn’t Want to Join MCU After The Rise of Skywalker

John Boyega might have a whole lot of time on his hands after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres this December, but the Star Wars sequel trilogy actor has no intention of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his grand adventure in Star Wars' galaxy far, far away.

Speaking in an interview with ComicBook.com to help promote his new Star Wars movie, Boyega answered questions about his plans after The Rise of Skywalker. The British actor was asked whether there was any comic book character from Marvel or DC that he would be interested in taking on. Unfortunately, it seems like Boyega has no intention of joining Marvel just yet.

"I sat down with Marvel years ago, but that's not the direction I want to go at all. You know, now I just finished Steve McQueen's Small Axe. I'm also doing a movie called They Cloned Tyrone. I'm also doing a movie with Kevin Costner, which is much more action-based. Just trying to extend that versatility," the actor said in his discussion with the entertainment news outlet, "Just spread it out and see what character I can morph into with character work. And go back to where I came from, which is the indie world."

Star Wars fans might expect Boyega to want to join the MCU after finishing his time in the Star Wars franchise, but it looks like the actor has other plans for himself after Episode IX premieres.

There's a lot of excitement building up over The Rise of Skywalker. We all want to know what's going to become of the Resistance and the First Order as the sequel trilogy finally comes to an end. Will Finn survive the fight? We hope so.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
