Star Wars Fan Theory Suggests Palpatine’s Return in The Mandalorian

Sure, Star Wars: The Mandalorian might be set five years after the fall of the Empire in Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi, however, there are fans that suspect that the hit Star Wars live-action series may build up to Palpatine's surprising return in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

According to a report by Comic Book Resources, Palpatine may have a potential connection to The Mandalorian. In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, fans get to learn that the Emperor has been conducting secret experiments on Force-sensitive children. Called the Slave Initiative Procedure, the program conducted by Palpatine attempts to control these Force-sensitive children so that they can do the Sith Lord's bidding.

A new theory on Reddit suggests that Moff Gideon might want to do the same to Baby Yoda in The Mandalorian. In the first few episodes of the series, fans get to learn that the Client has been attempting to experiment on The Child – for what reason, we've yet to know.

What if Palpatine is actually behind these experiments on Baby Yoda? What if Darth Sidious is using Moff Gideon to get to the child?

It doesn't seem entirely unlikely, given Palpatine's power in the Force. The Sith Lord could have easily influenced the Imperial commander.

While fans might not want to see Palpatine so soon after his fall from the Death star, a connection to Darth Sidious in The Mandalorian would definitely help build up to his grand return in Episode IX.
