Star Wars: The Force Awakens may have introduced the Knights of Ren into Lucasfilm’s galaxy far, far away, but Kylo Ren’s (Adam Driver) followers never really got any proper screen time in both the first and second installments of the sequel trilogy. Now, a new source claims that the group may very well appear in Star Wars: Episode IX.

On Reddit where leaks come aplenty, one Star Wars fan claiming to have access to details about the secrets to Episode IX said that the Knights of Ren would make an appearance in the third and final installment in Lucasfilm’s sequel trilogy. According to this leaker, Disney shared various pictures and artwork of the Knights of Ren, so it’s impossible to fathom the group being absent from the movie.

Yes! I totally forgot about them but they will definitely be in the next movie,” the Redditor claimed. “They did show numerous pictures/artwork of them. I wish I had more details but at the very least it seems like they will play a bigger role than previous films. While I’m a Star Wars fan, I’m not a superfan like many of you so a lot of names/details/places probably were wasted on someone like me.”

It might sound fishy, but it’s very likely that J.J. Abrams might bring back the Knights of Ren to Episode IX – after all, he was the filmmaker who first introduced Kylo’s followers to the Star Wars franchise in the first place. In fact, fans were expecting a lot more from the Knights of Ren in The Force Awakens and were hoping for a bit of screen time for the group in The Last Jedi.

Of course, fans ought to take this report with a grain of salt. Leaks shouldn’t be trusted, especially if they come from random sources on Reddit. However, Disney has been known to share their plans for their movies in marketing summits, so this claim may very well be possible. Let’s just wait and see.

Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
