Star Wars has had a tradition of hosting secret cameos. Daniel Craig starred as a stormtrooper in Star Wars:The Force Awakens. Tom Hardy, Prince William, and Prince Harry made cameo appearances as stormtroopers in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Simon Pegg appeared as Unkar Plutt in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. George Lucas dressed as Notluwiski Papanoida in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.
The list goes on, and on.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker joins the tradition with its own set of cameos, and it looks like Star Trek actor Karl Urban is part of that list.
Speaking in an interview with Digital Spy,The Boys and Star Trek star Karl Urban reveals his secret cameo in the third and final entry in Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy. Like Daniel Craig, Tom Hary, Prince William, and Prince Harry, Urban suited up as a stormtrooper in Episode IX.
The actor even had a line of dialogue in the movie.
According to Urban, his stormtrooper says "Knights of Ren" just as the masked warriors follow Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in his mission in the desert planet of Pasaana. While there, the group passes by two stormtroopers on the way out.
"I am one of those stormtroopers," Urban reveals in his talk with the entertainment news outlet.
"I had the good fortune to go and visit JJ Abrams [the film's director] while he was shooting The Rise of Skywalker," he said, explaining the process behind his cameo. "While I was there, he put me in a stormtrooper uniform and we had a really fun day on set. It's been one of my life-long goals to be a stormtrooper, so I can tick that off now."
It's one of those short blink-and-you'll-miss kind of cameos, but we're glad that Urban's gotten his wish of becoming a stormtrooper. Now it looks like Urban can go around saying that he's both been in Star Trek and Star Wars.
