Marvel fans were stunned when word came out that Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson had decided to exit from the production of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness today. Everyone was looking forward to the film, and fans were sure that Derrickson could bring the Doctor Strange film franchise to new heights in the sequel.
While Derrickson has yet to reveal the full details of his exit, the filmmaker has decided to take to Twitter to reveal the response that Blumhouse Productions CEO Jason Blum sent him through email.
"Oh my god," Blum responded.

This might seem like a simple message of surprise, however, there are fans speculating that the exchange could mean so much more. There's been a whole lot of history between Blumhouse Productions and Derrickson.
For one, Blum and Derrickson once collaborated on the 2012 horror movie Sinister. The film was a relative success for both Blumhouse and for Derrickson, earning $78 million at the worldwide box office. That might not seem much, but that's a whole lot of profit against a reported $3 million budget.
The message could mean that Derrickson has room back at Blumhouse, allowing the filmmaker to return to the world of horror movie-making for the first time since his 2014 horror movie, Deliver Us From Evil.
Before heading to Marvel, Derrickson had made a name for himself in the horror genre, delivering films like The Day the Earth Stood Still, Hellraiser: Inferno, and The Exorcism of Emily Rose.
Let's wait and see whether Derrickson really starts making horror movies again.
