Ross Marquand Addresses Red Skull’s Potential Return in Phase 4 of MCU

Marvel fans were pretty surprised when Red Skull appeared in Avengers: Endgame. The Marvel villain as last seen in Captain America: The First Avenger where the villain vanished into a wormhole after touching the Tesseract with his bare hands. No one was expecting Johann Schmidt to appear in the second installment in Joe and Anthony Russo's two-part Avengers movie.

Now that Marvel Studios is moving on to Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans are wondering whether they'll ever get to see Red Skull again, perhaps in the upcoming Disney+ live-action series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Unfortunately, it seems like Red Skull star Ross Marquand has no idea whether he'll make a return in the MCU.

Speaking in an interview with Point Blank Live, the Walking Dead star was asked whether Red Skull would make an appearance in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

"I don't know about that," the actor said with a laugh.

While Marquand doesn't directly confirm or deny the possibility of Red Skull's return, the actor has previously expressed interest in reprising his role as the Marvel villain in the Phase 4 movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

"My point when I said that was just that any of these characters can come back. I think when Doctor Strange established there are a million different threads and multiverses now, there are certain timelines where Red Skull is certainly free," Marquand said. "Because in Infinity War, once the Soul Stone goes to Thanos, now Red Skull can go anywhere. I was just saying there's a world where all of these characters can come back — Black Widow, everyone who passed away, all of the villains — there's different multiverses and different timelines where all of these characters still exist, which I thought was pretty cool."

We would definitely be interested in seeing Red Skull return in the MCU. The villain was pretty imposing in Captain America: The First Avenger, and we'd like to see the character now that he's no longer the Guardian of the Soul Stone on Vormir.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has yet to receive an official release date however the series is expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in August this year.
