New Star Wars Book Might Reveal Major 'The Rise Of Skywalker' Death Star Spoilers

Lucasfilm might be very careful when it comes to letting out the secrets of upcoming films like Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but it looks like a new Star Wars book may reveal potential spoilers to the film.

Last month, Star Wars announced a new Star Wars novel titled Thrawn: Treason. Now, it looks like an excerpt taken from the book may actually hint at a pretty huge detail about how the Death Star might return in Star Wars: Episode IX.

Shared on the official Star Wars website, the anecdote that was taken from Thrawn: Treason reveals a meeting between some of the most powerful figures in the Empire. This includes Emperor Palpatine, Vader, and Thrawn.

Here's the excerpt in question:

"The muscles in Krennic's throat tighten briefly. "As I said, Your Majesty, the situation is under control. We're merely having a few problems with mynocks at the equipment transfer point."

"Grallocs," Tarkin murmured.

"Grallocs are simply a cousin species to mynocks," Krennic countered. His expression hardens, the skin flushing slightly. Possibly annoyance; possibly anger; possibly embarrassment. "They live in vacuum, they attack power cables and couplers—"

"A nuisance?" Tarkin asked. His expression holds triumph. "Your own reports show the equipment and point-defense turbolaser transshipments are already three weeks behind schedule. I don't see how this qualifies as merely a nuisance."

In the end, the Emperor decides to put Thrawn in charge of getting Project Stardust in track. For the uninitiated, Stardust is in reference to Death Star, a codename that fans get to learn more about in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

While the anecdote might seem a lot bureaucratic and boring, the book reveals that Thrawn is assigned to work out the production of the Death Star. This means that he might be headed to the exact same spot where we get to see the remains of the Death Star in the teaser for The Rise of Skywalker.

It looks like Thrawn: Treason may very well reveal the location where Rey, Finn, and Poe might be headed to in Episode IX.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
