Marvel’s Entire Spider-Man Trilogy Fits Right Between GOTG 2 And 3

Marvel fans were relieved when Sony announced that it had finally come to an agreement with Disney last week, allowing Tom Holland's Spider-Man to remain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, Marvel has Jon Watts returning for Spider-Man 3, and it also has a release date for the film.

Much to our surprise though, ComicBook.com reports that the movie's new release date is going to make the entire Spider-Man trilogy fit in between Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Vol. 3. Marvel just scheduled Spider-Man 3 for July 16, 2021, and while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has yet to receive a release date we're pretty sure that Marvel's setting the film up for Phase 5 of the MCU.

It might seem like a bit amusing that the entire Spider-Man trilogy is going to fit between two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, however, the cosmic comic book movie franchise got caught into a bit of a snag when an alt-right extremist decided to launch a smear campaign against James Gunn, forcing Disney to fire the Marvel director.

Sure, Disney hired Gunn back, but it took the Mickey Mouse House a few months of convincing and quite a number of petitions to bring back the director for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. By that time, Gunn had already been tapped by Warner Brothers for The Suicide Squad. Now, Marvel has to wait for Gunn to complete his Suicide Squad movie before the director can return for GOTG 3.

Hopefully, we'll get to see more Spider-Man even though his trilogy finishes right before the third Guardians movie.

Spider-Man 3 is scheduled to premiere on July 16, 2021.
