Marvel Reportedly Considering Race Bending The X-Men And Wolverine

There might not be any official news about Marvel's plans for Fox's mutant superheroes just yet, but word has it that the studio may very well race to bend a few of the X-Men, including Wolverine.

According to a report by Cosmic Book News, there's a rumor going around saying that Marvel may have plans to change the race of a few X-Men characters, including Wolverine. These rumors suggest that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is currently looking for persons of color to play different versions of Magneto and Professor X in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The site links these rumors with comments that Feige made before, saying that Marvel's future is linked closely to diversity and representation.

While this might seem like major news, fans have to remember to take the rumor with a large grain of salt. Marvel has yet to announce its plans for the X-Men – right now the studio is busy working out Phase 4 and then Phase 5 of the MCU.

Besides, it's probably going to take Marvel sometime before it can properly introduce the X-Men into the studio's interconnected comic book movie universe. The studio will need to find a way to bring the X-Men into the current timeline of the MCU, and that may take some time considering how the Marvel retconned Scarlett Witch's (Elizabeth Olsen) origin.

Not only that, but we highly doubt that the studio would make major changes to the X-Men knowing how popular the heroes are.

What do you think about this rumor? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Meanwhile, catch other Marvel superheroes on series that will be streamed in Disney+, which is set to launch in the US on November 12.
