Marvel Reportedly Considering a Female Galactus for the MCU

It looks like Marvel has even more characters to gender swap outside of the Eternals.

Last week, word came out that Marvel may be thinking of introducing a female Nova in Captain Marvel 2. Today, we have reports saying that Galactus may end up being gender-swapped too.

According to Showbiz CheatSheet, there are rumors going around saying that Marvel may introduce a female Galactus into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Liam Neeson may have long been considered the frontrunner for the role because of his intimidating demeanor and his imposing voice, however, the entertainment news site reports that Marvel Studios may very well bring in an Emma Thompson-like actress for the part instead.

Instead of opting to have a man play the role, Marvel is reportedly considering highlighting Galactus' omniscience and all-knowing superiority by having a woman play the part instead. It would be an interesting choice for Marvel, though not necessarily new. The studio has been known to gender swap characters when it sees fit – take a look at Doctor Strange and the Ancient One.

In Marvel Comics, the Ancient One is often presented as an old Tibetan man. However, Marvel decided to gender-swap the role by giving the part to Tilde Swinton. Just recently, Marvel also decided to gender swap three of the lead characters in its upcoming Phase 4 movie, The Eternals. Not only are we going to have a gender-swapped version of Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), but we're also getting a gender-swapped version of Sprite (Lia McHugh) and Ajak (Salma Hayek).
