Marvel is Resorting to Bribes to Get Civil War Readers on Marvel Unlimited

It looks like Marvel is going everything that it can to get more comic book readers interested in super-crossover events.

According to a report by Bleeding Cool, Marvel Comics is bribing comic book fans to read Civil War on Marvel Unlimited. The Heroes vs. Heroes super-mega-crossover comic book event which started out in 2006 features a shift in the Marvel comic book universe where a tragic event leaves the public demanding that superheroes register their real identities to protect the country. The registry divides the Avengers, pitting Captain America and Iron Man against each other.

While Civil War might be a classic read, it seems like Marvel Comics is trying to bribe comic book fans with 1500 Marvel Bucks (Marvel Insider Points) just so that they'll get more fans interested in super-mega-crossover events.

This decision to offer comic book fans Marvel Bucks to read comics comes after other Marvel strategies to get readers interested in crossover events have failed (some of these strategies include interrupting fan-favorite ongoing series twice a year and then promoting these events as "unmissable" comics).

Of course, fans wouldn't want to miss reading Civil War. Not only are they going to get free Marvel Bucks, they'll also get to experience the groundbreaking seven-issue series written by Mark Miller and illustrated by Steve McNiven. Civil War is an indubitable Marvel classic.

The super-mega-crossover event is available to read for free on Marvel Unlimited. All fans need to do is sign into their account on the site, read all seven issues of Civil War and then collect the 1500 Marvel Bucks.
