Mark Hamill Reacts To Senator Using Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back For Senate Presentation

The Senate floor might be the last place Star Wars fans would expect to see pictures from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back to make an appearance, but it looks like that's what happened during a presentation opposing the Green New Deal.

Utah Senator Mike Lee just recently made a presentation about his stance on the Green New Deal, and during his presentation, the senator tried to send his point across by using various pop culture images during his presentation to show just how ridiculous he thinks the Green New Deal proposal actually is.

Using these pictures to troll, Lee started his presentation with Ronald Reagan coming in riding a velociraptor, Aquaman riding a seahorse, and Luke Skywalker riding a tauntaun.

It's an odd display, one that managed to catch the attention of Luke Skywalker himself, the Star Wars legend Mark Hamill.

"Please tell me this is photoshopped," Hamill groans as he retweets the images.

In his presentation, Senator Lee suggested that tauntauns would make a good option for transportation because, like any other ride, the Star Wars creatures are carbon neutral and great to use on a cold night. Remember that scene in Empire Strikes Back where Han Solo has to put Luke instead a dead tauntaun to keep him from freezing to death while they were on Hoth?

It's a fun little picture, one that delivers Senator Lee's message to the Senate about the Green New Deal – the whole thing just doesn't really work.

Lucasfilm's next project, Star Wars: Episode IX, premieres on December 20, 2019.
