Loki Star Tom Hiddleston On How Long He’s Been Lying To Fans About His Return

Marvel fans were heartbroken when they saw Loki (Tom Hiddleston) die at the hands of Thanos (Josh Brolin) during the opening act of Avengers: Infinity War. Unlike the many times where the Asgardian God of Thunder faked his death, Loki's death in Infinity War seemed like a death that he couldn't escape, and fans believed that the mischief-maker would never really make a full return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But as it turns out, Loki was allowed another appearance in the Time Travel Heist in Avengers: Endgame, and thanks to a sudden turn of events, the Asgardian God of Mischief was able to receive his own Marvel Studios mini-series on Disney+.

Speaking in an interview with MTV News, Hiddleston was asked how long he knew about Disney+'s Loki series and how long he'd been lying to fans.

"I knew about six weeks before the worldwide release of Avengers: Infinity War. Which meant I had to go and do press for Avengers: Infinity War going, 'Yup, that's it guys,'" the actor responded, laughing.

There's a lot of excitement building up over Loki. This version of the Asgardian God of Mischief is one that fans meet in the Avengers' Time Heist in Avengers: Endgame. In the film, Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) brother made an alternate timeline after stealing the Space Stone. Now, fans are going to get to see Loki jumping from one time period to another.

Loki is also going to be the longest tenure for Hiddleston as the antihero – after all, the six-hour long miniseries is much longer than the combined screen time of all his appearances in the MCU.

Loki is set to debut on Disney+ in Spring 2021.
