Live-Action Ezra and Thrawn Reportedly Coming to Star Wars

Lucasfilm may have been rather withholding of official Star Wars news the past few months, however, the Star Wars rumor mill has been alive and busy churning out reports about supposed Star Wars movies, series, and character appearances.

Back in May word started coming out that Lucasfilm was planning on developing a sequel to Star Wars Rebels, Dave Filoni's hit animated series inspired by original Star Wars trilogy concept art by Ralph McQuarrie. Unfortunately, Lucasfilm officially announced its plans to produce a Clone Wars spinoff focusing on the Bad Batch, and the project dimmed fans' hopes for a follow-up to Rebels.

Though it seems like the Star Wars Rebels sequel seems unlikely at this point in time, Kessel Run Transmissions writer Noah Outlaw says that Lucasfilm is interested in bringing back fan-favorite Rebels characters Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn.

According to Outlaw, Lucasfilm is hoping to have both characters return in either an animated or a live-action series for Disney+ (or possibly both).

This is definitely interesting news for fans of Star Wars Rebels.

At the end of the series, Ezra and Thrawn were teleported to an unknown part of Star Wars' galaxy far, far away. Ahsoka and Sabine Wren were left to find them. It's a cliffhanging ending, and everyone wants to know what happens to Ezra and Thrawn after? Do they survive? What becomes of the two as the Star Wars saga goes on?

We hope that Lucasfilm continues Ghost Crew's extraordinary story, one way or the other.

Star Wars Rebels is available for streaming on Disney+.
