Keira Knightely Admits She Almost Fell Asleep Working On Star Wars

Keira Knightley might not have been in the Star Wars franchise for that long, but the British actress played an important role in The Phantom Menace, acting the body doubling handmaiden of Queen Amidala (Natalie Portman) in the Star Wars movie.

Now, years after her role in the Star Wars prequel movie, Knightley's decided to open up about her time in The Phantom Menace. Speaking in an interview with Total Film (via Metro), the Academy Award-nominated actress details the work behind her oft-forgotten role. Knightley was only 12 at the time, and The Phantom Menace had only been her second feature film.

Knightley had a bit of trouble with her character's wardrobe – it wasn't easy to wear all of Amidala's headdresses.

"I mean, I was 12. I literally don't remember... I remember the headdress being so heavy, it gave me a headache," the actress told the publication. "I really remember the headache from one of the headdresses."

That's not the only interesting tidbit Knightley has for Star Wars fans. Apparently, the actress had been in the background for such a long time, she'd fallen asleep working on a scene.

"And I remember being in the background for such a long time that I'd fallen asleep. I was just sitting in a chair, and I was in the background, but I couldn't keep my eyes open. I really remember that," Knightley said.

It probably wasn't that easy for Knightley to work on such a big film at such a young age. We can only imagine the stress she had to go through, going through so many costume changes in The Phantom Menace.

Lucasfilm's latest Star Wars release, The Rise of Skywalker, is going to be made available on Digital HD on March 17 and then on DVD, Blu-Ray, and 4K Ultra HD on March 31.
