Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Reportedly Casting Two Villains

Marvel fans may still be reeling from the announcement that Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson has decided to leave the production of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, however, it seems like there's even more news about the highly anticipated Marvel sequel.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness still seems to be in production despite losing its director, and according to a report by Discussing Film, two villains have been potentially cast for the movie. Apparently, the Doctor Strange sequel is looking for a male and a female actor for two villains in the movie, and the outlet notes that these two characters could very well end up being Nightmary and Lilith.

To those who aren't familiar with Doctor Strange's comic book history, these characters are strongly connected with the Sorcerer Supremes' mythology. Nightmare is a supervillain that first appeared in Strange Tales #10 and is usually depicted as one of Doctor Strange and Host Riders' enemies. Nightmare is both a conceptual entity and a deity.

Lilith has a similarly mysterious origin. The villain was already aged during the dawn of humanity. Her origins were lost to a hazy myth. There are many stories about Lilith's origin, one which tells her as a member of the Heavenly host, other as wife to Samael, one who eventually became Satan.

We're not quite sure what might become of these villains now that Derrickson is leaving Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, but we're hoping that they do get to appear in the film.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to premiere on May 7, 2021.
