Doctor Strange 2 And Black Widow Reportedly Set For Release After Avengers: Endgame

Marvel might be pretty busy adding to the hype for Avengers: Endgame, however, the studio has been keeping deathly quiet about its plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the release of the second installment in Joe and Anthony Russo's two-part Avengers movie.

Now that Disney has revealed its entire release slate for 2019 at this year's Cinema Con, word on the street has started spreading saying that the Mickey Mouse House is meaning to debut Marvel's Black Widow standalone movie and Doctor Strange sequel sometime in 2020.

According to a new report by Deadline, Black Widow and Doctor Strange 2 are both being set for release next year, the first two Marvel films scheduled after Avengers: Endgame. This might come as a bit of a surprise to fans because while casting for Black Widow has already begun, the project has yet to begin production. Meanwhile, there's been little word on Doctor Strange 2, though director Scott Derickson has teased the film on social media.

For those who haven't been following Marvel news the past few months, Black Widow will be Scarlett Johansson's first standalone movie as Natasha Romanoff. Stranger Thing star David Harbour has just recently been cast in the film along with Florence Pugh.

Doctor Strange 2 hasn't had that much news, however, early rumors stipulate that Benedict Cumberbatch just recently signed a major contract with Marvel. If these rumors are true, then we may see the Sorcerer Supreme playing a bigger role in the MCU moving forward.

Marvel's latest film, Avengers: Endgame, premieres April 26, 2019.
