Daniel Craig Explains How He Got A Stormtrooper Cameo In Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Most Star Wars fans know by now that Daniel Craig made an appearance as a stormtrooper that finds himself under the influence of a Jedi mind trick placed by Rey (Daisy Ridley) in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

What fans don't know is how the English actor managed to get himself a cameo disguised as a stormtrooper in the Star Wars sequel trilogy installment. Speaking on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the action star decided to reveal how he became involved with the movie that successfully revived the Star Wars franchise.

"That Star Wars, most of them, are shot in Pinewood [Studios in England], which is where we shoot the Bond [movies]," Craig explained. "Most of the crew on that were working on [Spectre], which was happening straight afterwards. I'm going to get him into trouble but Ben Dixon, who was second [assistant director], who I've known and worked with for a long time, is my liaison on set. And he was working on Star Wars and I had some meetings with him."

Apparently Craig had asked Dixon what it was like working on a Star Wars movie and then asked if he could join the film.

"‘J.J. [Abrams] is amazing, it's gonna be great.' And I said, can I be in it?" Craig recounted.

After telling Dixon that he was serious about it, the assistance director came back to the English actor saying"‘We're shooting a Stormtrooper scene this Friday, do you want to do it?'"

They say that you've got to have the right connections to make it in life, and it seems like you've also got to have the right connections to find yourself in a Star Wars movie like The Force Awakens. We wonder what kind of surprise cameos are waiting for us in The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas December 15, 2017.
