Daisy Ridley Loved Being The “Worst Version” Of Rey In Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Star Wars fans were pretty stunned when they saw Rey (Daisy Ridley) wielding a retractable red lightsaber in one of Lucasfilm's trailers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Dark robes and red sabers make up the design scheme of the Dark Side, and Rey's new look sparked some serious speculation that the Jakku Orphan might turn away from the Light.

Daisy Ridley just recently spoke in an interview with different journalists to help promote Episode IX (via Cinema Blend), and though she didn't really reveal details about what's to come in the highly-anticipated Star Wars sequel trilogy entry, she did talk a little bit about Dark Rey. The actress enjoyed playing the Sith version of the Jakku Orphan that everyone's come to love, saying that it was an amazing experience for her on set.

"It's fun to play someone's best version, and then the worst," "It's an amazing thing to do as an actress, but we can't do it often. ... I felt very good. That's the most I can say, unfortunately."

Though this doesn't really say that much about how Rey turns to the Dark Side (or whether she really does turn away from the Light), fans already have a lot of wild theories to turn to while waiting to see what the deal is with Dark Rey. There are theories that say that Dark Rey is a clone. There are theories that suggest that she's the original version of Rey. Some even say that she's Anakin reincarnate.

Let's wait and see what really becomes of everyone's favorite Jakku Orphan.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
