Courage The Cowardly Dog Is Getting A Prequel Series

It looks like Courage the Cowardly Dog might be getting its own spinoff prequel series pretty soon.

Taking to Facebook, John R. Dilworth, the creator of the popular 90's animated series, decided to share a post announcing that he and his company were starting to expect to "begin development" on a prequel to the classic cartoon.

Titled Before Courage, the prequel spinoff of Courage the Cowardly Dog is being developed for Boomerang.

"To all our Courage fans... I am deeply moved by the love for our show. I am grateful that our talented team was able to do some good in the world," Dillworth wrote on his post. "I have promising news... We are expecting to begin development on a potential prequel to CCD titled "Before Courage" for Boomerang!. Stay tooned for more. Who knows what will happen (o= Continue to write Cn to keep broadcasting CCD."

Featuring the misadventures of Courage, a purple anthropomorphic canine and the elderly couple that he lives with, the popular 90's animated horror comedy series became an instant cult classic once it premiered on Cartoon Network. The show's pilot "The Chicken from Outer Space" even got a nomination for an Academy Award.

If the series manages to make it through development, then Before Courage will mark fans first official return to the show and its characters. Of course, while we're not quite sure which characters are going to be featured in the series, we're definitely hoping we get to see our favorite scaredy-doggo in Before Courage.

Before Courage has yet to receive a release date but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
