Bumblebee Star Hailee Steinfeld Casts Doubt on Her Future in Marvel’s Hawkeye

Marvel fans might have been hoping to see Hailee Steinfeld play Kate Bishop in Marvel's highly-anticipated Hawkeye series, but it seems like the actress may not be joining the Disney+ project after all.

Back in September, reports were going around saying that True Grit and The Edge of Seventeen actress Hailee Steinfeld had been offered the opportunity to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kate Bishop, a member of the Young Avengers who becomes the first female hero to take the Hawkeye name. Fans were excited about the prospect of seeing Steinfeld take on the role because of the performance she gave in the Transformers spinoff movie, Bumblebee. Everyone thought that she'd make a great heroine in the Hawkeye series.

However, the actress just recently cast doubt on her involvement in the Jeremy Renner-led series when she spoke in an interview with Radio Times. According to Steinfeld, she may not necessarily be joining Hawkeye, though she does tell fans to keep their fingers crossed and to look out for the future.

"That's not something that's necessarily happening. […] We're going to wait and find out, I guess," the actress told the entertainment news outlet.

Could Steinfeld in Marvel not be happening? Or is this a misdirect from the actress?

Meanwhile, in other Hawkeye news, Jeremy Renner continues to be shrouded in controversy with details about his personal life coming to light because of his legal battle with his ex-wife. Though Disney has publicly announced that they have no intention of recasting Hawkeye as of the moment, we can't tell how the backlash against Renner might affect his career in the MCU.

Hawkeye is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2021 Fall.
