Brie Larson Rumored to Play Star Wars Legends Character Mara Jade in Kevin Feige Movie

Before Hollywood industry news outlets announced that Marvel Netflix star Rosario Dawson was in talks to play Star Wars' live-action version of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Mandalorian, word had it that Larson would be playing the fan-favorite hero in Kevin Feige's upcoming Star Wars project.

Now, the rumor mill has started chugging up a new report saying that the Captain Marvel star might be playing a very different character in Feige's Star Wars movie. According to a report by Showbiz Cheat Sheet, Larson may actually be playing Mara Jade Skywalker, one of the most popular characters in Star Wars Legends.

For those who aren't familiar with Legends lore, Mara Jade is a fiery Force-sensitive redhead who first appeared in the book Heir to the Empire by Timothy Zahn. Playing different roles in her lifetime, Mara Jade started out as Hand to the Emperor and then eventually turned to the Light to become a Jedi. Mara was assigned on a mission to kill Star Wars hero and legend Luke Skywalker, however, she becomes close to Luke and ends up falling in love with him.

While it seems highly unlikely that Lucasfilm is going to introduce Mara Jade into Star Wars given that the Skywalker saga has already come to an end, these rumors about Larson playing the Legends character may stem from the fact that The Hollywood Reporter did once say that Feige had already told a major actor that there's a specific role that he would like to see that person play if and when he begins making the Star Wars movie.

Larson has been a Marvel favorite from the moment that the studio announced her role as Carol Danvers, and the actress has expressed explicit interest in Star Wars before. It would make sense for Feige to invite Larson to join his film.

The Star Wars saga is available for streaming on Disney+.
