There's A David Bowie Easter Egg in The Latest Final Fantasy XIV Dungeon

David Bowie's death was sad to fans around the world, and video game developers are among those who mourned his passing as clearly evidenced in the newly-discovered Easter egg in Final Fantasy XIV's latest patch (3.2), The Gears of Change. Apparently, there are Bowie fans in the FFXIV development team.

In one of the new dungeons included in The Gears of Change was called The Antitower, and in it, one of the enemies adventures will encounter is Ziggy, who is backed up by an army of Stardust enemies. This is of course a nod to Ziggy Stardust, a song in Bowie's fifth studio album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. This is a pretty cool tribute from Square Enix, but this isnt' the first time they paid tribute to Bowie. Shortly after Bowie's death, Square Enix offered Omikron for free for a limited time. Bowie, provided creative tribute into the game's design and story, and voiced a couple of characters in the game. He also contributed music and provided instrumentals for the game. We also shared the beautiful David Bowie tribute art by Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano. And just in case you haven't seen the Honest Trailer for Labyrinth, watch it here to remind you how great Bowie was.
