The Walking Dead’s Alexandrian Teammate Heath Talks About Open-Ended Fate

Usually when deaths are left hanging in the air in The Walking Dead, it has to be a very pivotal character. We've seen it done early on in season 6 for Glenn's infamous dumpster scene, and yet again as cliffhanger for that season's finale episode.

For other, less pivotal characters, cliffhangers of sorts like these don't usually suggest too much a dramatic death in the background. This may be the case for Heath—remember Heath?—who is still missing, as far as anyone knows.

Speaking at the Television Critics Association press (via IGN), actor Corey Hawkins hinted that it's still possible to see him when the show gets back. When discussing the issue of deaths in The Walking Dead, he touched on the fact that the showrunners are not keen on leaving things to interpretation when it comes to deaths.

The only issue as to why Hawkins can't be a regular on the show is thanks to his role in 24: Legacy as well as other projects like Kong: Skull Island. Still that doesn't mean that we should kill off Heath for good this time.

"We left [Heath's fate] open so I will just say, there's always a possibility. There's always a way!"

His constant talks with showrunner Scott M. Gimple does help, if only so his character's fate won't just be unceremoniously dropped.

The Walking Dead will be back for the second half of season 7 on Feb. 12.
