The Predator and Alita: Battle Angel Pushed Back by 20th Century Fox

Alita: Battle Angel and The Predator are among the list of highly-anticipated movies this year, but 20th Century Fox has pushed back their release dates for some reason.

According to ComingSoon.net, Alita is being moved from her original July 20 release date to Dec. 21, and The Predator has been bumped back a month from Aug. 3 to Sept. 14. Swapping with Predator's original release date is The Darkest Minds which stars Game of Thrones' Gwendoline Christie as well as Mandy Moore.

There hasn't been any reported reason why the releases were swapped, but maybe it would just be more advantageous to have some movies release on different dates; especially counting what competition they have in the box office. With Deadpool 2, Avengers: Infinity War, and Solo: A Star Wars Story coming out in May, Slender Man was forced to release on a much later date to avoid floundering next to the competition.

Both Predator and Alita have good things going for them, what with Shane Black helming the former, and James Cameron producing the latter. Though there have been complaints about Alita's final look in the movie, I have no doubt that the film will still find its own audience.

Alita: Battle Angel comes out Dec. 21, and The Predator releases Sept. 14.
