Stephen King Is “Fascinated” By How People Are Reacting To IT’s Child Orgy

Warner Bros. film adaptation of Stephen King's book It might have decided to skip the 1986 horror novel's controversial children's orgy, however it seems like the scene is still stirring up a lot of trouble online with netizens reacting to the segment in the book.

Vulture just recently dug up a statement by King regarding the sex scene way back in 2013 where the writer admits that he didn't really think about the "sexual aspect of It."

"The book dealt with childhood and adulthood –1958 and Grown Ups. The grown ups don't remember their childhood. None of us remember what we did as children–we think we do, but we don't remember it as it really happened. Intuitively, the Losers knew they had to be together again. The sexual act connected childhood and adulthood. It's another version of the glass tunnel that connects the children's library and the adult library. Times have changed since I wrote that scene and there is now more sensitivity to those issues."

After being asked by the publication regarding his previous stance on the scene, the prolific horror, supernatural fiction, science fiction and fantasy writer ended up saying that "it's fascinating" that there have been so many reactions to the controversial segment in his book.

"[Yes]That sounds like my statement. To it I'd just add that it's fascinating to me that there has been so much comment about that single sex scene and so little about the multiple child murders. That must mean something, but I'm not sure what."

There have been so many reactions to King's child orgy in It, with many expressing concern and many others finding the child orgy scene unnecessary. What are your thoughts regarding the matter? Feel free to use the comment section below.

It is currently screening in cinemas.
