Star Wars: The Last Jedi Director Gives Details for Captain Plasma & Admiral Holdo

With fans now given a new look at the characters of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the creators behind the movie have given a few more details to this holiday's blockbuster movie.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Lucasfilm Story Group creative executive Pablo Hidalgo revealed a few choice details about the characters, particularly the unique look that Laura Dern's character, Admiral Amilyn Holdo had, as well as the sneak peek we finally get underneath Captain Phasma's headgear.

Dern's character was one of the unexpected inclusions for the Vanity Fair shot. We get a glimpse of her purple magenta get-up, which bleeds from her hair to her gown. While this makes her look like someone else outside Earth, Hidalgo confirms that she is, indeed human.

And not only that, her side is actually with the Resistance as one of its high-ranking officers. We'll probably get to know more about her cultural background and the origin of the magenta get-up in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

As for the other surprise, we finally see the face behind Captain Phasma's helmet. Everyone knows that she's portrayed by Gwendoline Christie, but seeing her there on the cover gave some pretty serious Brienne of Tarth vibes.

"It was only relatively recently that we wanted to commit to the idea that there was a human under there. The Force Awakens left that question, but as we got further into Last Jedi, as well as some other stories, we're thinking about with Phasma, we had to ask ourselves, ‘All right, do we agree there's a human there?"

This decision also comes with the teaser of a new weapon that she'll be wielding in the movie. It's supposed to be a retractable pole arm that will collapse into a smaller weapon for ease of use and transport. Still, it holds some pretty hefty value, if only for its relation to Phasma's history.

It seems like we'll be seeing some origin explorations apart from continuing the story from The Force Awakens.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be out on Dec. 15.
