Star Wars’ Oscar Isaac Talks About The Status Of The Resistance In Episode IX

Aside from the official cast list announcement, Lucasfilm hasn't revealed that much information about Star Wars: Episode IX, keeping the film's secrets under wraps as the third and final sequel trilogy installment continues production.

Luckily, it seems like the Oscar Isaac, the actor who plays the Resistance's ace pilot Poe Dameron, has a bit of information to offer the Star Wars fanbase.

Speaking in an interview with the USA Today to speak about the late Carrie Fisher and the production of Episode IX, Isaac teases the state of the Resistance after the events of The Last Jedi.

Fans know that the Resistance struggled to survive the dog hunt of the First Order in the sequel to The Force Awakens, and everyone is eager to know whether the rebels are finally able to gather more members and more fighters in Episode IX.

According to Dameron, the Resistance is going to continue operating like a guerrilla team, hiding out in the mountains and then coming out to attack the First Order.

"(They) are guerrilla fighters, adhering closer to something like the Revolutionary War fighters or even the guerrillas in Cuba with Che and Fidel and all these guys living in the mountains, coming down to do some attacks, and going back and trying to hide from the 'empire' of the United States. It's that kind of ragged at this point," Isaac shares with the publication.

The actor's comment doesn't come as quite a surprise – after all, all throughout the Star Wars saga, the Rebel Alliance, and the Resistance has acted as a small group of guerrilla fighters in a galaxy controlled by first the Empire, and now more recently, the First Order.

However, based on Isaac's words, it looks like the Resistance is going to be back on the market, doing what they usually do, fighting for freedom against the tyranny of the First Order. Hopefully, this means that the organization finally manages to find allies and support.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits cinemas December 20, 2019.
