Star Wars: Jedi Challenges Brings New VR Experience To Fans

There's a new Star Wars VR experience allowing fans to have lightsaber battles right at home. Every Star Wars fan wants to hold a lightsaber to battle with Darth Vader, and now Lenovo Mirage gives fans the opportunity to do so with the smartphone-powered augmented reality experience, Jedi Challenges.

Available for purchase at $199.99, the Star Wars VR experience offers games that include "lightsaber battles, holochess, and strategic combat." StarWars.com got to try out Mirage's Jedi Challenges, and so far the site seems to think that the price is pretty much worth it, saying that the lightsaber battles with classic Star Wars baddies like Darth Maul, Darth Vader and Kylo Ren all "feel authentic and surprisingly intense."

Speaking with the publication, Disney's Advanced Development VP, Mike Goslin, is pretty happy that the game turned out well.

"We wanted to make this for all Star Wars fans. What I'm most excited about in the future is, man, there's almost no limit to what you can do with this kind of technology. And it's going to allow us all to live those moments that we've dreamed about from our favorite films and stories. We can live them out ourselves in our own homes. I think that's just a fantastic way to tell stories and create experiences that people haven't been able to do before."

It might not seem as realistic as you'd hope for, but the graphics are pretty decent, and StarWars.com says fans will actually feel the intensity of the fight. Guess the future of Star Wars gaming is here.

Star Wars: Jedi Challenges is currently available for order.
