Star Wars: Harrison Ford Gave Advice to Alden Ehrenreich About Playing Han Solo

Being one of the grumpiest actors in the franchise, a lot of people were expecting Harrison Ford to distance himself from the Solo movie, but Kathleen Kennedy and director Ron Howard revealed that Ford actually had some input with the upcoming movie.

Kennedy tells EW that Ford actually helped talk Alden Ehrenreich into getting himself into character. She says:

"What [Ford] did so beautifully for Alden was he talked a lot about what he remembered when he first read Star Wars, and what George [Lucas] had done with Han. Who the character was and the conversations he had for so many years with George about how that character developed. He gave Alden that kind of insight which was invaluable. There were several times in the course of making the movie where Alden would actually recount some of the things that Harrison had pointed out. I think that was really, really helpful to him."

A lot of fans who did their research will know that Ford and Lucas actually clashed when it came to Han's portrayal, and Ford even famously complained to Lucas about the script saying, "George, you can type this shit, but you can't say it!"

Even director Ron Howard got some insight from Ford on Han Solo's character motivation. Howard recounts:

"Harrison's a very thoughtful actor and an artist, and I wanted to know what he learned about the character. He said that Han is always torn between that sense that he was, in a way, an orphan, and therefore both yearned for connection with people and struggled with it at the same time. I thought that was pretty interesting."

After months of worrying, fans are starting to warm up to the Solo movie. Sure it had some bad BTS run-ins, but it looks like everything is running smoothly now. Hopefully it's as good as the marketing is saying it is.
