Star Wars’ Favorite Jedi May Return

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has seen the return of the three main cast members, Leia, Luke, and Han Solo. I guess we can also count Chewie in the mix as well.

Now, a new clue may be pointing to fans seeing yet another returning alum. And this time, it will turn a little into another otherworldly realm territory, because it's not one who's supposed to be alive in the first place.

At SXSW, the Star Wars panel has seen quite a buzz when Frank Oz, responsible for the Jedi Master Yoda, failed to directly answer if the green master will be back (or at least seen) in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

In an interview with Variety, he gave a very cryptic response when asked about the reports of the possible return of Yoda in the upcoming installment:

"I feel like I'm a prisoner of war here, and I can only give you my name, rank, and serial number. To be true to the people who asked me, and they are kind of my family, I have to say I've been asked not to talk about it. I love Yoda. I would be happy to talk to you about it at the time they let me."

Oz did not give any other detail than that, but the fact that he suggested explicitly that there is a directive of not talking about these specifics does hint that there may be plans to have a cameo for Yoda somewhere down the line.

The question is whether that plan is something big enough to warrant speaking lines and actual encounters with the characters, or will it be a cameo that will be more an Easter Egg than an actual plot device? Either way, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is looking a lot more exciting as the days pass, and we still have a while before the expected Dec. 15 premiere.
